The Linen Storage - Before

We don't have one.  In this large house we are renting, a linen closet doesn't exist.  Oh, there is a tiny head knocker over the toilet, but where do we store towels, bedding, blankets, and other things that don't have a home?  It's maddening.  NO LINEN CLOSET.

Hubs is wonderful.  He does all the laundry and hangs up all my shirts.  The pants, socks, undies, towels, bed linens, etc. go in a laundry basket and sits on the floor of our bathroom or closet.  I'm terrible at putting these away, I mean HE washed them right? :-)  But there really was NO PLACE for the towels or linens to go.  So, I turned to my inspiration - Pinterest.  I found that a nice armoire would be perfect, but since we are renting, I really didn't want to spend the money.  I found a bookshelf at IKEA that would do the trick.  Yes, the open shelving would look lovely.

This is the BORGSJO bookcase and it only cost $65.00

Posey Residence - House Plans

My girlfriend, Lisa, and her husband are moving to Waco. They have two boys (ahem, young men) going to school out there and want to be closer to them. Her husband, Bodie, has already landed a job coaching Women's Basketball at Baylor.  They have sold their house and will be officially moving at the end of the school semester. While I'm sad she's moving away, I'm happy she'll be closer to her family.

They want to build a house so, naturally, I volunteered to do their house plans. I want her to have a wonderful house where she will be happy and I want her to owe me. *grin* Her boys are accomplished cowboys and I want my boys to learn to ride one day. Win-win situation!

I asked her to start by giving me some "must-haves" and start collecting photographs of houses she likes so I can get a "feel" for her style. Here is her list:

  • 2000 square feet maximum – downsizing.
  • 3 bedrooms (master has to be large enough for king size bed); other two can be significantly smaller
  • Bedrooms can be split or not; it doesn’t matter anymore, however, I don’t want the master directly next to the kitchen or living room.
  • 2 bathrooms (double vanities in both); one needs to be master en-suite.
  • Formal dining.
  • A study/office would be nice, but not necessary.
  • Eat in kitchen – open concept into living room.
  • Fireplace.
  • Front porch and back porch.
  •  Garage in back or side; must enter into utility room; then to kitchen – don’t want to walk through house bringing in groceries.
  • I want the bulk of square feet in the kitchen and living room.
She found a plan she liked which gave me a starting point to design the floor plan.

All plans are 3 bedroom (Office could be 4th bedroom)/2 bathrooms
Option A has a corner fireplace and a butler's pantry.  This island seats 3 comfortably.  No built-ins in the Great Room.  Has an extra 1/2 bathroom.

House Stalking - 14

House stalking has taken a bit of a backseat while we moved and through the Holidays, but I'm hoping to be back in full force soon.  Julia with Hooked on Houses has once again featured some of my finds HERE on her blog.  Check it out :-)  She is WAY funnier than me.

Enjoy!

Recently in the Real Estate photos...

It's either a shooting range in the basement or the entrance to the Bat Cave.

If We Built A House - 1

This is house I'm drooling over today - NOT the place we are renting!

It's been some time since my last post.  Hubs and I sold our house and moved into a rental in November. Then Thanksgiving and Christmas happened.  I finally got the tree down.
